Have you seen the Pink Supermoon?
🌸 Don't be fooled, it won't actually be pink!
🌎 It's a supermoon because it's at the closest point to Earth. If you don't see it this time, we're fortnate there's another supermoon to come at the end of May 🌝

Deceptively, the moon is not actually pink during the ‘Pink’ Moon.
In time before the modern solar calendar, it was referred to as the ‘Pink’ moon due to its correspondence with the early springtime blooms of a wildflower called ‘Phlox subulata’ or ‘moss pink’. 🌺🌸🌷

April’s 2021 Pink Moon is also a Supermoon. A Supermoon is a Full or New Moon that occurs when the centre of the Moon is less than 360,000 kilometres from the centre of Earth. The moon appears larger in the night sky, and an estimated 16% brighter than an average Full Moon.

If you look up at the sky tonight you will see April’s Full Moon, also traditionally known as the Pink Moon. 🌑
It reached its full illumination at 04:31am this morning, but never fear – it will still be visible tonight and tomorrow night. #pinkmoon #supermoon #fullmoon
